No Other Solution: New England Crime Bake 2020 is Canceled
May 1, 2020
It doesn’t take a crack detective to deduce that now is not the time to plan a large get-together, even six months in the future. We share your disappointment, but we are confident that this is the right decision for all of us. When we gather again as a community of mystery writers and readers, we will do so with the full and enthusiastic participation of past and new registrants; our instructors, authors, agents, editors, and forensic experts; and the members of our planning committee.
We considered offering an online version, but concluded there is no such thing, as it would lack the camaraderie that is such a hallmark of the New England Crime Bake.
We will continue to look for ways to support, enrich, and connect with our community, so please continue to follow us on social media and keep an eye out for our email notices. Look toward the first weekend this November for an online retrospective of the New England Crime Bake 2001-2019. Judging for the Al Blanchard Award contest will go forward and the winners will be announced during this online event, as will acknowledging our 2020 debut authors.
We will miss you and are already planning on seeing you next year. Mark your calendars for November 12 – 14, 2021, when we can all be together again.
Please send any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. We hope to celebrate our 20th anniversary in November 2021 with all the friends whose safety and well-being are our first concern.
